# Regions

Zoho runs independent data centers. Your Zoho Books organization, your Self Client and your tokens all live in one of them, and they must match. A client created at `api-console.zoho.com` is unknown to `accounts.zoho.in`, and the reverse is also true.

| Region flag | Zoho Books address | API Console | Accounts (OAuth) server | API host |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `com` (default) | `books.zoho.com` | `api-console.zoho.com` | `accounts.zoho.com` | `www.zohoapis.com` |
| `eu` | `books.zoho.eu` | `api-console.zoho.eu` | `accounts.zoho.eu` | `www.zohoapis.eu` |
| `in` | `books.zoho.in` | `api-console.zoho.in` | `accounts.zoho.in` | `www.zohoapis.in` |
| `com.au` | `books.zoho.com.au` | `api-console.zoho.com.au` | `accounts.zoho.com.au` | `www.zohoapis.com.au` |
| `jp` | `books.zoho.jp` | `api-console.zoho.jp` | `accounts.zoho.jp` | `www.zohoapis.jp` |
| `ca` | `books.zohocloud.ca` | `api-console.zohocloud.ca` | `accounts.zohocloud.ca` | `www.zohoapis.ca` |
| `com.cn` | `books.zoho.com.cn` | `api-console.zoho.com.cn` | `accounts.zoho.com.cn` | `www.zohoapis.com.cn` |
| `sa` | `books.zoho.sa` | `api-console.zoho.sa` | `accounts.zoho.sa` | `www.zohoapis.sa` |

## Setting the region

- **CLI:** pass `--region` when you add a profile. It's stored with the profile, so you never pass it again:

  ```bash
  fob-zb config profiles add myorg --region in --client-id … --client-secret … --grant-code …
  ```

- **Library and workers:** set `region` in the credentials, or `FOB_ZB_REGION` in the environment. The default is `com`.

When Zoho issues a token, it also returns the API host to use (`api_domain`). fob-zb stores it and uses it from then on, so the API host column is a fallback.

## Symptoms of a region mismatch

- `client_id / client_secret is invalid, or does not match this data center (region).` while adding a profile. See [troubleshooting](/docs/zoho-books/troubleshooting#invalid-client).
- The API Console shows no clients, even though you created one. You're signed in to a different region's console.
